A Forum on Children with Emotional Disabilities in Educational Settings

The Maryland State Department of Education, Division of Special Education/Early Intervention Services, in collaboration with the Mental Hygiene Administration of the State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, the University of Maryland Center for School Mental Health, and the Maryland Coalition of Families for Children’s Mental Health invite you to attend the Forum on Children with Emotional Behavioral Disabilities in School Settings on November 12, 2009.
The upcoming Forum is a follow-up to three Forums held in Spring 2008. Since that time, an interdisciplinary Steering Committee has been meeting to develop recommendations to improve outcomes for students in special education with emotional disturbance. The Maryland Mental Health Transformation Initiative has supported this year long effort and this upcoming Forum.
The Forum will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the University of Maryland Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. Directions to the Center can be found on the electronic registration form at The deadline for registration is October 30, 2009. We encourage you to register early as seating is limited.
The Forum will feature a keynote presentation by Lucille Eber Ed. D., Statewide Director, Illinois PBIS Network, and the agenda will include the Steering Committee recommendations and report. Opportunities for communication, collaboration, and connections will be provided to assist participants in sharing their experience in meeting the needs of these children and their families.
